QIGONG

Untapped Energy, Universal Connections

Poetic Harmony

Qigong, pronounced chee-gong, is an ancient Chinese energy exercise and mind-body-spirit practice that incorporates meditation, controlled breathing techniques, and movement and posture exercises. Qigong comes from the Chinese words “Qi” (energy) and “Gong” (work or practice). Qigong was passed down by ancient masters who recognized the transcendent connections ingrained in the Universe, intertwining man and nature in poetic harmony. Masters of the art unravel the secrets behind the perfect way to balance one’s body, mind, and spirit through a bonding with universal energy.

Qigong is often divided into two categories: moving and still. Still Qigong is focused on quiet meditation, internal focus, and controlled breathing. Moving Qigong emphasizes a sequence of meridian stretches which may include breathing components. Meditation supports this restorative healing process. Qigong (remove “which”) takes each individual on a unique journey, calming the mind, clearing the heart, setting aside distractions and desires to discover and develop ones internal potential.

Benefits of Qigong

Along with regaining one’s balance and renewing vitality, Qigong has proven to enhance mental and physical health as well. While Qigong is a physical activity, it is not a strenuous exercise. This holistic system is dependent on slow movements that soothe the muscles while toning the organs and encouraging the circulation of body fluids. These movements promote positive health improvement and are known for battling illnesses such as high blood pressure, weight gain, digestive issues, negative side effects of menopause, and the crippling consequences of radiation and chemotherapy. The exercises are also recognized for alleviating chronic conditions ranging from asthma to arthritis and even insomnia.

spiritual transformation

Despite the extraordinary effects, this system of healing has on one’s physical health, the beauty of Qigong lies in its spiritual transformation. The purpose of Qigong is to dig down to the root of the imbalance. The exercises unfurl the flow of energy in meridians most commonly targeted through acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Qigong allows one to sense and explore the life force lurking beneath the physical world. Consistently observing this ancient energy practice is integral in rebalancing the relationship between the mind and body. By doing this, Qigong paves a way for an individual to begin their personal journey of self-discovery. Through careful and delicate movements, conscious breathing, and lucid intentions, Qigong is an entrancing weapon which can be used to increase one’s connection between the transpersonal (heaven, earth, humanity, and source). This is also beneficial in terms of physical health as it greatly eases conditions like anxiety and depression while training one to control their everyday emotional responses.

The purpose of Qigong is to concentrate on pursuing and arousing life-force energies within one’s self. It is a healing art that requires training and regular practice to properly discipline both the mind and body’s “Qi”, or energy, the vital force behind an individual’s entire consciousness. While it takes concentration and dedication, Qigong is incredibly rewarding and those who are willing to commit to the practice will encounter profound improvements in all areas of their lives.
